Stephen Decatur High School’s athletes continue to excel.

On Wednesday, 24 graduating seniors officially signed letters of intent for the colleges where they’ve chosen to carry on their athletic careers during the school’s National Letter of Intent/Commitment ceremony.

“The ceremony does a great job at showcasing our kids to our community and families about the accomplishments and hard work they have achieved, not only in the classroom but in the playing field as well,” said Assistant Principal Curtis Bunting.

“I think it is important to recognize our athletes because playing at the collegiate level in any sport is a great accomplishment, and not the average person can do that,” he added.

Ashten Snelsire, who has committed to the University of Richmond to play football, said he was excited to finally make everything official.

“It’s like a dream come true,” said Snelsire, who plays quarterback. “The ceremony was really well-run. I like that they gave everyone a chance to speak, and talk about their accomplishments.”
