New beginnings await the new school year
June 11, 2018
With the 2017-2018 school year coming to a close, Stephen Decatur High School as we know it will never be the same. Next year students can expect some major changes to the administrative staff in the building.
After a successful six years as Decatur’s principal, Tom Zimmer will be moving to lead at the WTHS after the current principal Caroline Bloxom announced her retirement after her thirty year career in education.
Zimmer says that he’s excited to meet students from Pocomoke and Snow Hill, and also hopes to create more relationships with students while having the opportunity to see them work in the classroom.
In his place, Thomas Sites will be returning to SDHS after serving as principal of Berlin Intermediate School for six years.
Along with these changes, current SDHS Assistant Principal Ryan Cowder is moving to BIS where he will serve as principal.
Serving as Sites’s assistant principal is newcomer Dr. Curtis Bunting. He recently worked as the Assistant Superintendent at Sussex Technical School District in Delaware.
Although many will miss the administrators who helped make SDHS the what it is today, many are excited to see what these new changes will bring.
