Congratulations to sophomores Ian Ramnarain and Billy Fisher for being the 2018 fall Stock Market Game state champions. Concluding the 10-week game, the duo ended with a profit of $13,432.29. The game consists of 473 teams competing in the state of Maryland and are given hypothetical money in the amount of $100,000. With this money, they can invest in stocks, mutual funds, or ETFs that trade on the New York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ, or the American Stock Exchange. The first-place winners are determined by the individuals with the largest earnings. Since the fall of 2007, business chairman Kurt Marx has led seven students in becoming state champions. During this time, there have also been 21 regional champions. Stephen Decatur students have another opportunity to compete in the spring to showcase their business talents.
