Flagship Premium Cinemas: review

Eric Cropper, Staff Writer

What once was the arts and crafts store Michaels, has been recently renovated into something that should excite local film lovers of all sorts. Flagship Premium Cinemas, a chain movie theater, opened its doors June 7 in the White Marlin Mall in West Ocean City. The theater features a concession stand, as well as the Pig and Whistle Lounge, a full bar, and seven theaters with heated recliners.

When asked about the transformation from craft store to movie theater, Stephen Decatur senior Hunter Selzer said “The transformation is huge. I love going to the theater and hanging out with friends. It’s clean and really modern.” The checkout area was turned into the concessions and the aisles became theaters. According to Cinema Treasures, before Michaels, it was already Fox Theatre, a five-screen cinema that closed in 2007.

The theater itself is fantastic, it is right in the heart of growing West Ocean City, away from the chaos across the bridge. The seats are comfortable and there are Coca-Cola freestyle machines, as well as candy, popcorn, and all you care to enjoy during your movie watching experience.
