President Donald Trump was impeached on two articles of impeachment on Dec. 18. The House of Representatives found him guilty of abuse of power and bribery. Trump is the third president in history to be impeached, and it is unclear when he will be tried in the Senate.
The impeachment ran strictly along party lines. The Democrats argued that in Trump’s conversations with Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump used his power for political gain and used a bribe to gain information about Hunter Biden’s business with Ukraine. The Republican stance is that there was no evidence of abuse of power and no bribe in the conversation.
