Winter break extended for Worcester students

There will be a calendar change for the 2021-2022 winter break, causing students to cheer for three more days at home for the holidays.

“In order to provide some additional time to our students and staff, Friday, December 17 will now be an early dismissal for all students, and the following days – December 20, 21, and 22, will now be distance learning days for students,” said Superintendent Louis Taylor in a Nov. 16 robocall to students, parents, and school staff.

In addition, there have also been two early dismissal days added to our school calendar on March 11 and May 6.

This change follows neighboring Wicomico County’s decision to add more early dismissal days by request of weary students, staff and parents.

“I’m excited for the extra time off,” said junior Gracie Engle. “I think it is needed as this school year seems to be tougher on students and staff at our school.”
