April is Poetry Month and the National English Honor Society has a challenge for you! Share your poetry with us by dropping a poem into the Poetry Bucket in the media center. Poems will be randomly drawn from the bin and read on the morning announcements. If your poem is chosen, you will win a gift certificate to a local business! Our first winner this month is Clarice Piela with her poem, The Lizard.
“What happens when a lizard sheds its skin – Does it become left behind for the earth – For the grace to bring the dry scales to soil – Allowing the steps of a true rebirth? Or is it devoured by hawks from the sky – an eye that peers down on the plains – Grain from the fly to be another meal – Knowing that dead skin will never die?” Clarice, please see Mr. Thompson after the announcements for your gift card prize.
