Thank you to all those who have dropped a poem into the Poetry Month bucket in the media center. Remember, if you poem is chosen, it will be read on the morning announcements and the author will receive a gift card to a local business. We will draw two more poems this week, so drop your poem into the bucket by Wednesday for a chance to win. Our third winner this month is Alayna Spagnola, with her poem “Untitled.”
Yes I am Amish, well used to be – I used to wake up to the sound of a rooster – then start the morning chores – Just the usual – Make my bed – let the chickens out, – check for eggs, – fetch the laundry, – then get ready for breakfast. – I used to put on my favorite blue dress and go out to check on my horse peanut – My days were filled with the outdoors and helping my brothers and sisters – But now things are much different – I wake up to my alarm clock and get ready for school – I get to go and learn – Yes I use the internet now and it’s great – I get to come home to my family and not worry about so many chores – It was a very big change – I miss my horse peanut – but I wouldn’t go back – I love it here now.
Congratulations again Alayna, please see Mr. Thompson after the announcements to collect your gift card prize.
