The Future Educators of America Club would like to thank all the students at Decatur for sending shout outs in order to wish all the teachers and staff a happy American Education Week. It’s clear to see that SDHS teachers are THE BEST and are very appreciated. Here are a few more teacher shout outs to end the week:

Shout out to Dr. Hill. At first, I was really intimidated by Computer Science, but she helped me better understand the subject. She is a terrific teacher.

Mrs. Moore, to show my appreciation, I want to let you know how much help you have been to so many students including me. You are always so patient, calm, and keep class intriguing. You not only give us future advice, but you help us learn instead of memorizing. You deserve a paid day off.

Thank you Mrs. Cassino for being a really inspiring teacher. Your class is never boring and you help me when I need it.

Mrs. Ciancitto is a really nice teacher. Her class is the place I go to relax and I can really be myself. She has helped me fall in love with art and discover that I’m actually pretty good at it.

Mr. Coleman is always in a great mood and that puts me in a great mood. I look forward to his class. Thanks for giving me something to look forward to every day.

I really love Mrs. Culver’s class. Her style of teaching is fair and she is really motivating.

Mrs. Hohl is a teacher who really cares about her students. You can tell she is genuine and actually really wants us to be successful.

Thank you Mrs. Luckett for helping me when I really need it.

I love you Mrs. Ray. You are so nice and funny. You help me not take myself too seriously and realize what is most important.

Mrs. Seyler and Mrs. Tunnell are really nice. I liked your class even though I didn’t always put forth my best work all the time.

Mrs. Layton is the best. You keep class fun while making sure we get our work done. I like the fun activities that we do in class. Your class is my favorite.

I want to shout out Mr. Wilder. You go above and beyond to make class interesting. I have learned a lot this semester. I hope that you have a great day.

Once again, Thank you to all the teachers at Decatur. The FEA club hopes that you had a wonderful American Education Week!

Tis the the last day to show some gratitude! (Roll Leo Club Card video 0:11:10) Buy your cards during all lunch shifts, today is the final day!

After School Academy Participants – this is a friendly reminder that there will be NO after school academy programs next week. Again, no after school programs on November 20th and 21st.

Attention Seniors: Salisbury University will be here on Thursday, November 30th. They will start by providing general college information in the cafeteria. Then, meet with students individually to conduct interviews for On-Site admissions. If you would like to be considered for On-Site Admissions at Salisbury University, please stop by guidance and write your name on the list.

We have additional upcoming college visits you may not be aware of, so listen up! On Tuesday, November 21st, Wilmington University will visit at 1:15, so check in to see what they offer before escaping into a turkey coma! Lastly, on Tuesday, November 28th, Virginia Commonwealth University will visit at 10:00 am. Continue to check the list posted outside guidance for all upcoming college visits.

Pajamas are the battle uniform of kids with cancer. Stuck in the hospital for long periods of time during treatment, these children live in their pajamas while fighting for their life. PJammin is a way to raise awareness about childhood cancer and to help them feel less alone.

Mu Alpha Theta would like to invite the Decatur community to join us in PJammin for Kids with Cancer on Tuesday, November 21st. Teachers and staff that choose to participate may make their donation in the morning to Mary Candeloro in D149. All students can make their donation during all lunch shifts! Participants must donate in order to wear pajamas, the “official uniform of childhood cancer”. There will be small prizes for those that donate on Tuesday and any donation will be accepted! Mu Alpha Theta will be donating all funds raised on November 21st to the American Childhood Cancer Organization.

Who will be named Decatur’s Teacher of the Year for the 2023-24 school year? Visit our schools website, sdhs.worcesterk12.org to nominate! Nominations are now open and will remain open until December 1st.

Attention Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen! School pictures have arrived and will be distributed TODAY. Please note that your school ID cards are inside the envelope, so do not simply throw them away as no replacements will be provided. Again, photos will be distributed tomorrow. If you missed picture day, retakes will take place on Tuesday, November 28th.
