Today Celebrates: Girls Scout Leader Day, National Jelly Bean Day, and Earth Day!

Lunch for today includes: Cheese Lasagna Roll Up with Garlic Toast, Chicken Tenders with Dinner Roll, Vegetarian Baked Beans, Steamed Corn, Fresh Fruit, Mandarin Oranges, and Milk.

Happy Earth Day, Decatur!! The Surfrider Club will be celebrating Earth Week this week. Each day will have a different theme. Today is “Dim Day”. Please encourage your teachers to turn out the classroom lights if possible. Turning off the lights in the classroom for just half of the school day will save the school over $2,000 per year while also requiring less fossil fuel consumption.

Attention Volunteers! The deadline for the Presidential Service Award IS HERE. All forms are due to Mrs. Thompson in A168 by 3:00 pm TODAY. Forms will not be accepted after this date. Please see Mrs. Thompson with any questions.

Do you love to dance? Do you love to perform? Do you want to be a part of a team? Come tryout for next year’s Color Guard! It will take place in the band room from 3:00 until 4:00 TOMORROW and Wednesday. You will learn a short routine, basic flag and some dance skills. Please make sure to bring comfortable clothes, shoes, and a water bottle! If you have any additional questions, please go to Ms. Johnson’s room C129 to ask.

Class of 2024! The senior quote submission form is still open and will remain open until Friday, April 26th. Only those seniors with senior portraits in the yearbook will get a senior quote. We need at least 175 quote submissions and have only received 60 so far, so get your friends to submit of the class of 2024 will be without quotes. Lastly, inappropriate quotes will be replaced with a generic quote, so be smart and submit on time!

Seniors! We are accepting baby photos for the senior graduation video. Photos can be emailed to [email protected] or a hard copy can be dropped off to the DNN studio. If emailing your photo, please include your first and last name in the subject line. If dropping off a hard copy, please write your first and last name on the back of the photo. Photos are due by May 17th! See Mr. Thompson with any questions.

Attention Students: The Honor Roll WeXL Banquet will be held on April 30th. Please check the lists posted by the cafeteria during lunch shifts and pick up your invitation. If you plan to attend, we need the RSVP card and your money turned in right away, no later than Friday April 26th. Please everyone check the list for your name!

For Sports:

The Boys Varsity Lacrosse team beat Kent island for the first time in 12 years on Friday. The score was 14 to 11. The top scorers were John Fohner with 5 goals, Evan Ogelsby with 3, and Luke Popelaski and Graham Geiser both with 2. Declan Horan had 16 saves in the goal.

The Girls Varsity Lacrosse team had another big win against Kent Island on Friday. It was a team effort with the defense causing turnovers and attacks, converting them to goals. Top players from the game included Abby Melito with 4 caused turnovers, Caitlin Shimko with 3 goals and 6 draw controls, Mariabella Morse with 2 goals, 1 assist, and 5 ground balls, and Addison McDaniel with 10 saves. Next up is North Caroline on Tuesday.
