Decatur Nation! Decals for Tyler are still available for purchase during all lunch shifts this week and next week. The stickers were made by family members and proceeds will benefit costs for Tyler’s recovery. Decals are $10 each.
Listen up! Students who are on the list to attend the UMES College Fair please report to the front of the building at 9:50 a.m. You must report to 2nd period for attendance purposes. Lunch will be provided at UMES. We should return back to SDHS around 2:00 pm. You must report to your 5th period class.
The Homecoming Dance committee will meet briefly after school TODAY in the DNN Studio. This meeting will cover work sessions and shifts. Please see Mr. Thompson with questions.
Attention to those registered to take the SAT at SDHS this weekend on Saturday, October 5th. Please remember the following: Doors open at 7:30 and testing will begin PROMPTLY at 8:00 AM. If you are late you will not be admitted to test.
YOU MUST bring a VALID ID, a current drivers license, school ID, passport, or a driving permit will be accepted. If you show up without an ID, YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO TEST. Your ID and testing ticket must match EXACTLY. If your name is misspelled or missing a hyphen or apostrophe you will NOT be permitted to test. If your birthdate is incorrect, you will NOT be permitted to test.
It is imperative that you bring your school issued device to test. This device must have Bluebook downloaded. We will have NO DEVICES for you to use. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Candeloro in D149 or go to collegeboard.org for more information.
Decatur Nation! Homecoming 2024 is NEXT WEEK! That’s right, the week of school spirit, class pride, and crazy fun begins next Monday, October 7th! Remember, every dress day and night event earns your class points and the class with the most points wins the entire week, so make sure you dress up and show up to either participate or cheer from the stands!
Ready for the run down? Monday, dress for your favorite holiday and then get ready for a Smish Smosh Rave in the auditorium that evening! Tuesday is all about the Hall of Fame! Get creative and have fun! That evening, come out to the stadium for the annual Powder Puff as the girls take the field and the boys cheer them on!
Wednesday is all about that Disney magic! Dress in your favorite Disney attire! It will be great to see the halls full of Mickey and Minnie, Princes and Princesses, and don’t forget those Disney Villains out there! Take that night to rest up as the week is only half way done!
Thursday is all about the Outer Banks as we get ready for the new season to drop sobeach it up like in Ocean City. That night, the gymnasium comes alive with the annual Volleyball competition! On Friday, shine bright by wearing that neon! Freshman highlight the halls with yellow! Sophomores shine in pink while Juniors sport the orange! Seniors, it’s your last day of Homecoming, so sport the Decatur apparel and that Decatur blue!
Friday is packed full of fun, and you don’t want to miss the Lakelyn Legacy Color Run before the annual Football game that night! As you rest a bit on Saturday and get ready for the dance, make sure you check out Playa Bowls to support Mu Alpha Theta, and of course, ending the week like the olympic games, come out Saturday night for a Golden Hour in Paris, the annual homecoming dance!
The deadline to sign up for Monday evening’s Smish Smosh is TOMORROW! Sign ups are on the black box door, B1020. Participating students need to bring their music choices and acts to Mr. Cater by Friday so he can approve your piece and have any music you need queued up and ready for the event! If entertaining your friends and having a good time is your thing, don’t hesitate! Just come down to the black box and talk to Cater. So get ready to kick off homecoming week Monday at 6:30 pm in the auditorium. Tickets to attend are $5, and YES, acts get in free! Support your class, and let’s get this party started!
DNN invites you all to the 2024 Homecoming Dance, A Golden Hour in Paris, taking place on Saturday, October 12th from 6:30 until 10:00 p.m. in the gym. This year, tickets can be purchased in advance and will be on sale Monday through Thursday of next week in the media center during 1st, 2nd, and 5th periods, as well as down at the cafeteria during lunches and at the end of the day by the main office. Tickets are 15 dollars in advance, or 20 dollars at the door. Remember, you must be debt free to purchase tickets and attend, debt free forms will be available in the main office and media center later today. If you plan on bringing an out of school guest, you must pick up and complete a guest form by Wednesday, October 9th, they are available NOW in the main office!

Congratulations to the girls and boys cross country teams who both scored 8th place out of 38 teams at the Tidewater Fall Classic Invitational at Winter Place Park yesterday.
Placing well for the girls out of 290 runners included Amber Marshall in 18th place with a time of 21:01 followed closely by Evie Eggers in 22nd place with a time of 21:12. Way to go ladies.
Placing well for the boys out of 377 runners included Braydon Bell in 18th place with a time of 17:27 followed closely by Trey Rill in 28th place with a time of 17:50. Keep up the hard work guys.
Last night, Decatur volleyball had another exciting night, this time at Snow Hill. JV took the win after three tough sets. Shout out to Sydney Wade for her great coverage, Malasia Dennis for stepping up in the back row and Sarah Isett for being aggressive at the net.
Next up, varsity controlled the match and won in three. Stand outs last were Mariya Jackson with 4 aces, 7 kills, and 4 digs; Alice Bickel with 2 aces, 3 kills, 1 block and 2 digs; and Julia Knerr with 3 aces, 4 kills, 3 blocks and 2 digs. Come out tonight and support your teams as they battle undefeated Parkside. First 20 students get free admission. JV at 4pm and varsity at 5. Good luck to all the teams playing tonight.
