Remember, every dress day and night event earns your class points and the class with the most points wins the entire week, so make sure you dress up and show up to either participate or cheer from the stands! Tomorrow we prepare for the new season of Outer Banks! Dress in your best OBX attire as we wait for the legendary drama to unfold in ways that only television can produce. That evening, get ready to spike the competition during the annual volleyball tournament taking place at 6:00 in the gymnasium!
Shine bright on Friday by wearing that neon! Freshmen will highlight the halls in yellow, sophomores will paint the town pink, juniors light up in orange, and seniors sport that Decatur blue! Don’t go anywhere after school dismisses, as the Lakelyn’s Legacy Color Run pops off at 4:00 at the SDMS bus loop!
Looking for something fun to do before our Homecoming game Friday night? Need some neon inspiration? We got you covered! We will be hosting our 2nd annual Lakelyn’s Legacy 5k Color Run, this Friday at 4:00 p.m. Enjoy the beautiful weather with your friends as we race relay style in teams of 5, and help us raise funds for the Cure Starts Now. Cost is only $10 a student, $50 total per team, and the first 20 teams will receive a color run swag bag. See Mrs. Hommel or Mrs. Bone to register.
Keep the neon and color run colors going and join the Varsity Football team under the Friday night lights as they take on Kent Island during the annual Homecoming Football Game! Game starts at 6:00 p.m. with the crowning of the Queen commencing during half-time!
Homecoming week continues on Saturday with the Mu Alpha Theta Playa Bowls fundraiser! Perfect for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, dine all day at Playa Bowls and 10 percent of proceeds benefits the Math Honor Society! That night, DNN invites you to come out for the dance as the school transforms into a Golden Hour in Paris from 6:30 until 10:00!
This year, Homecoming Dance tickets can be purchased in advance and will be on sale TODAY and TOMORROW in the media center during 1st, 2nd, and 5th periods, as well as down at the cafeteria during lunches and at the end of the day by the main office. Save five dollars by purchasing your dance tickets in advance for 15 dollars each. If you do not purchase you ticket by Thursday, you will need to pay 20 dollars at the door Saturday evening.
Remember, you must be debt free to purchase tickets and attend, debt free forms are available in the main office and media center, make sure you complete this form before coming to purchase your tickets. If you plan on buying tickets at the door, you will still need to settle any and all school debts before you can enter the dance.
If you plan on bringing an out of school guest to the dance, you must pick up and complete a guest form and submit it to the main office by the end of the day TODAY! Forms are available in the main office.
We want to make this year’s dance the better than ever! Submit your song requests early to make sure they will be played. Scan the QR code on the Homecoming Dance flyers on the “What’s Up Decatur” bulletin boards to submit your special music requests. Last day to submit is Friday!
Are you interested in earning service hours during the Homecoming Dance? We need volunteers to pour drinks in the concession stand. Give one hour of your time and you will earn service hours AND will get into the dance for FREE! See Mr. Thompson in the DNN studio to sign up for a shift!
Homecoming is really heating up! Yesterday our halls were full of hall of fame legends! But the best dressed was Chase Wagner as Eddie Van Halen! Chase please see Ms. Hathaway in room A 269 to claim your prize! If you think you are really looking like a Disney princess or Mickey today, make sure to snap a pic and upload it to the QR code to get entered into today’s best dressed contest!

Powder Puff Football Winners: 4th Place: Sophomores, 3rd Place: Seniors, 2nd Place: Freshman, and 1st Place: Juniors! But the real winners were the teachers!!!
Over all after day two: Tied for 3rd and 4th: freshman and sophomores and tied for 1st and 2nd: Juniors and seniors!!! The current class competition is only a difference of 15 points from 1st to last. It is still anyone’s game!
For Sports:
Congratulations to the Varsity Golf Team on their 11th win of the season finishing the season undefeated. We were again led by Bayside South Player of the Year Clayton McCabe’s even par 37, with Jasper Davis 40, Sam Boger’s 41, and Brady Cunanne’s 43. Next up Districts!
Congrats to the Varsity Field Hockey Team on back to back wins Monday and Tuesday. On Monday they defeated Kent Island 2 to 1. The first goal was by Ryleigh Smith, assisted by Jill Burton. The game winning goal came off a penalty stroke by Bailey Griffin with less than 5 minutes left in the game.
Last night they defeated St. Michaels 8 to 0. Bailey Griffin and Ava Snelsire led the scoring with 2 goals and 1 assist each. Ryleigh Smith added 2 goals. Emily Ferguson and Avari Shoff added one goal each and Kamryn Hitchens and Jill Burton had assists.
The JV team also played a great game Monday and finished with a 1 to 1 tie versus Kent Island. Our goal was scored by Layla Hamrock.
If you are planning on attending the homecoming football game on Friday night as Decatur takes on Kent Island, please purchase your tickets on Friday during your lunch period from Mr. Dobronz. Tickets are $6.00 each.
