Congratulations to the girls and boys cross country teams as they both earned the Bayside Runner-up trophy at the Jungle course in Cambridge.
The girls came in a close second place losing to Queen Annes by 1 point. Earning Bayside medals for the girls team included Evie Eggers in 4th place as the fastest senior on the course, Amber Marshall in 6th place as the 3rd fastest senior, and Avery Weber in 9th place as the fastest sophomore in the race.
The boys also came in second place after Kent Island. Earning Bayside medals for the boys team include Braydon Bell in 6th place as the fastest junior on the course, Trey Rill in 7th place as the 2nd fastest junior, and Carter Steffy in 11th place as the fastest freshman in the race. Way to go guys.
Best of luck to both teams as they set their sights on the 3A East Regional meet at Chesapeake High School on Thursday of next week to earn themselves a chance to compete in the Maryland 3A State meet.
If you weren’t at the boys Varsity soccer game last night you missed potentially the game of the year. The boys opened the playoff season with Arundel High School last night. Jackson Hurst, a late season JV team pull up, opened the scoring with a rocket of a shot to put the Seahawks up 1 zero. Arundel answered back early in the 2nd half to tie the score at 1. Meyer Henson put the Seahawks back on top deep into the 2nd half to give the boys a 2 to 1 lead.
With 95 seconds left Arundel got the equalizer to put the score even at 2. Overtime was eminent. After a scoreless 1st Overtime, the Seahawks dug deep and Holden Bunting put the ball in the back of the net for the golden goal and give the Seahawks the victory! The boys would like to thank all the students and teachers that came out last night to support them. The energy was definitely electric.
The boys will take on Bennett on Saturday at Bennett at 2. Please consider taking the 30 minute drive to support boys in the regional semifinal.
Today’s Sports:
At 3:30 PM JV Football plays at WiHi – dismissal at 1:30
At 5:30 PM Varsity Field Hockey takes on Bennett in the Region Semifinals at home
