Decatur Nation! We are excited to host our second annual Pickleball tournament! If you missed it last year, be sure not to miss it this year! Proceeds will benefit our school’s Morgan’s Message chapter, supporting our ongoing efforts to raise awareness about mental health in athletics and beyond. Teams can register for a chance to earn a spot on the tournament winner’s plaque. Players of all skill levels are welcome, and non-players are encouraged to attend, watch, and enjoy the event.
The tournament is on March 18th from 6:00 till 9:00 pm in our school gymnasium. Registration fee to compete is $10 per player. See a Morgan’s Message member, Mrs. Owens in A-8 or Mrs. Shirk in guidance to register and pay. You can also scan the QR code on the event flyer located on the What’s Up Decatur bulletin boards around the school.
Decatur Nation! We have some exciting news! The MVA will be at school to administer the Maryland Drivers Permit Exam on February 19th at 9:30 in the cafeteria. You must be 15 years and 9 months old by the exam date. Stop by the guidance office to pick up additional information and the permission slip. You must register by THIS THURSDAY, February 12th to participate.
The Seahawk Writing Center will hold a meeting after school TOMORROW in the media center. If you have applied or are interested in applying to become a writing center tutor, please join us! The meeting should not last past 3:30 if you are planning for a ride home. We are looking forward to seeing you and scheduling our first tutoring sessions. The National English Honor Society is holding a Valentine’s Bake Sale TODAY through Friday or until we sell out. Baked goods can be purchased at the Indoor Concession Stand from 2:40 until 3:15. Bring cash and your sweet tooth!
For Sports:
Congratulations to the Stephen Decatur Boys and Girls Swim Teams for their outstanding performance at the Bayside Championship this past weekend. The Women’s Swim Team took first place with 456 points against reigning champs, Kent Island who finished second.
The Men’s Swim Team took second place to Kent Island with 417 points.
Individual Event Winners include, sophomore Kate Wanner in the Women’s 200 Individual Medley, which was a Bayside Championship Record and SDHS school record. Freshmen Karis Bagley in the Women’s 100 Butterly and 100 Backstroke, junior Kendall Bagley in the Women’s 500 Freestyle and junior Vincent Schicchi in the Men’s 100 Backstroke!
Team Relay Winners included: Macie Groves, Zoe David, Fin Helfrich, and Kate Wanner in the Women’s 200 Free Relay andFin Helfrich, Zoe David, Kendall Bagley, and Karis Bagley in the Women’s 400 Free Relay.

Both the Boy’s and Girl’s Swim Team will compete in Regionals at the Arundel Swim Center this Saturday at 3:00. Good luck SDHS swimmers!
