A big Decatur congratulations goes out to the girls and boys cross country teams who competed against runners from 18 teams in the Rumble in the Jungle meet in Cambridge on Tuesday.
The girls team took 1st place with a score of 33 points which was less than half the points of the second place team. The entire girls varsity team also earned medals led by Amber Marshall in 3rd place, Avery Weber in 5th, and Evie Eggers in 7th, followed by Sophia James, Ally Fernandez, Sage Hall, and Eliza Myers. Way to go ladies in defending your title against all the other Bayside Conference teams.
The boys team took 2nd place with a score of 61 points, just 7 points more than the 1st place team of Kent Island. The boys team was led by medal winners Braydon Bell in 4th place, Trey Rill, Quinn Martin, Carter Steffy, and Collin Pennington. The boys team had the lowest spread of all the teams with only a 1 min 9 sec difference between the 1st and 5th place runners on the team. Way to push each other guys. Keep up the hard work!!
Best of luck to both teams this Saturday on the Bull Run State Championship course at Hereford High School. Attack that dip!!!
