Monday:
On October 6, students of SDHS dressed up in their most comfortable pajamas to celebrate the first day of Homecoming Week 2025. While junior Isabelle Ketterman took home the top prize for best dressed, it was the Freshmen who secured their first win as high school students and new members of Decatur Nation. Sophomores placed in second while juniors took third and seniors ended with fourth.

Later in the day, the Morgan’s Message club hosted the first ever Spikeball Tournament outside in the softball fields. The seniors team, The Minecraft Miners, dominated the games and resulted in the senior class taking home the first event win of the week.
At the end of PJ Day, with all points tallied, the junior class ended in fourth place, freshmen class was knocked down to third place, sophomores maintained their place in second, while the seniors quickly bounced from last place to first.
Tuesday:
On October 7, students got to twin it up with dynamic duos for twin day. Juniors Amaya Johnson and Emiley Thompson secured the best dressed win for the day while the seniors took the overall dress day win. Freshmen stayed in the competition and placed second while juniors secured third and sophomores ended up in fourth.
That evening, Decatur Theatre hosted their first ever game night, taking over the hallways with ping pong, corn hole, retro and current video games, while the gymnasium morphed into the ultimately laser tag course. The junior class dominated the games and took home first place for the evening.

At the end of twin day, the overall standings place sophomores in fourth while freshmen and juniors tied for second place, leaving seniors securely in first place once again.
Wednesday:
October 8 saw students dressed for a particular stage of life depending on their grade level. Seniors dressed as the elderly, juniors channeled their inner adult, sophomores dressed as kids while freshmen were itty bitty babies. Winning the dress day were once again the seniors, while juniors hung on to second place, sophomores secured third, and the itty bitty babies took home fourth. Going all out for the dress day, senior Gracie Perdue took home the win for best dressed. While no event took place that evening, the tallies altered the rankings with freshmen and sophomores tied for third place, juniors in second, and seniors remaining in first for the third day.

Thursday:
On October 9, the hallways filled with the sights and sounds of actor Adam Sandler in numerous renditions as the students channeled their inner Adam from Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, and more. Taking home the best dressed class were the seniors with their impressive interpretations of Adam Sandler, while the freshmen and sophomores tied for second, leading the juniors trailing behind in last.

Later in the afternoon, the varsity girls’ soccer team won their game against Bennett for the first time since 2001, before the field was taken over by Powderpuff, the annual tradition where girls take the field and boys take on the cheers.
Seniors quickly took the lead during the night after winning their first match, and while it become close when the seniors took on the juniors, the seniors did not back down and ended with the win for the entire evening. Juniors, although upset by their loss to the seniors, took home second place while the sophomores earned third and freshmen fourth. The sophomores were not done though as their cheerleaders took the field, wowed the crowd, and took home first place for the cheer competition.
Friday:
Ending the school week, October 10 saw students dressed for color wars, which each class taking on a particular color to stand out and celebrate their grade level. Freshmen wore white, sophomores dressed in black, juniors worn grey while seniors showed off their Decatur blue. To end the school day and in preparation for the game that evening, the annual Pep Rally was held in the stadium. The class competition continued throughout the event as students, representing their class, competed in games like Tug of War, a donut eating context, and more while the varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders, and marching band and color guard performed on the field.

After a week filled with fun dress days, night events, and friendly competitions, the senior class were crowned the ultimate winners of Homecoming Week 2025. Juniors were close behind and earned second place while the freshmen fought hard and snagged third place leaving the sophomores in fourth place.
That night, the varsity football players took the field to the shouts of fans all decked out in black for the black-out game. Decatur devoured Bennett during the game and ended the night with a 38 to 0 win, capping off the week and leading into the celebration on Saturday.
Saturday:
October 11 saw the return of the annual homecoming dance. Decked out in emerald green and bright pink, students enjoyed a night in the Emerald City surrounded by thoughts of Elphaba and Galinda from both the Wizard of Oz and Wicked. Through music, games, and dancing, students celebrated one short day while ending the week for good.
