Today Celebrates: Ask a Stupid Question Day, National Good Neighbor Day, and National Public Lands Day!

Lunch for today includes: Chicken Tenders with Roll, Meatball Sub, Mini Sweet Potato Puffs, Green Peas, Fresh Fruit, Diced Pears, and Milk.

Decatur Nation! Homecoming is in two weeks! In order to attend the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 14th, you MUST be debt free, so make sure you settle any and all debts! Also, if you plan on bringing a guest from outside of the school, you MUST complete an Outside of School Guest Form and return it to the main office by Wednesday, October 11th at 11:00 a.m. Forms can be picked up in the main office.

Have you seen the Spirit Week flyers in the hallway? Now is the time to begin planning your dress days for this fun-filled week! Monday is all about those Holidays while Tuesday sees a battle between Barbie and Oppenheimer. Will you be The Rock, or Jenny from the Block during rhyme with no reason Wednesday, and what Era will you be in on Thursday? Don’t forget those night events from Volleyball, to PowderPuff, to Smish Smosh! Sign-ups to participate in the night events will go up soon! This week celebrates YOU, the students of Decatur Nation! Dress to impress because this year we will be announcing a Best Dressed student for each spirit day! GET HYPE!

Registration for the fall session of the After School Academy is open! Be sure to check out all course offerings. In order to participate, you must register using the QR code printed on the posters around school or visit the After School Academy page on the school website. See Mrs. Berquist in the CRT office if you have any questions.

Are you involved in higher level science classes or AP’s? Do you love science? Want to win awards? The Science Olympiad might be the place for you! Meetings take place after school every Tuesday beginning on October 3rd. Events of competition include Astronomy, Forestry, Rocks and Minerals, Code Busters, Cell Biology, and more! If interested, sign up using the QR codes posted around school and attend the October 3rd meeting in the cafeteria.

Students, the MOCK TRIAL team is seeking new members for the upcoming season. In Mock Trial, we compete against kids from other schools, in person, by putting on a made-up court case in real-life courtrooms. It’s fun, challenging, and looks great for college applications. The next interest meeting will be held after school on Thursday, October 12th. If you want to try out for Mock Trial, it is mandatory that you attend this meeting. If you can’t make it October 12th but still want to audition, talk to team adviser, Mr. Shane.

Attention Decatur! Mu Alpha Theta is selling tickets to the Pre-Homecoming Football game DINNER! For $17 you will receive a pulled pork sandwich on a brioche roll served with mac and cheese, coleslaw, cornbread, a drink, and dessert. Please see Mrs. Candeloro in room D149 or ANY Mu Alpha Theta members to purchase tickets. Tickets will not be sold at the door and all tickets must be purchased before the end of the day October 6th. Do not miss out on this delicious opportunity.

For Sports:

All girls interested in playing basketball this winter are welcome to attend our first open gym on October 5th from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Wear appropriate sneakers and be sure to bring your water. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Congratulations to both the girls and boys cross country teams who crushed the competition for the second week in a row in City Park of Salisbury. This week the teams ran against Bennett, Parkside, WiHi, North Dorchester, and North Caroline. The undefeated in the conference girls team scored a low 26 points with Macy Woroniecki coming in 2nd place followed by Amber Marshall in 3rd and Avery Weber in 4th.

The boys team won the meet with 34 points lead by the rookie trio of Braden Bell in 2nd, followed by Trey Rill in 3rd, and Quinn Martin in 6th. Overall every Decatur runner improved their times and ran strong as a team. Keep up the effort guys and gals and best of luck to you at the Bull Run course at Hereford High School this Saturday!

The JV Field Hockey team defeated Washington 5 to 0 yesterday. It was a team effort with 5 different goal scorers. Mary Short, Skylar Price, Morgan Michalski, Lexi Rupple, and Maizy Jerns all scored a goal. Skylar Price, Maizy Jerns, and Bella Candeloro all added assists.

The Varsity Field Hockey team earned a huge win over Washington yesterday 2 to 0. Jill Burton led the scoring with one goal and one assist and Ryleigh Smith added a goal. It was a phenomenal defensive effort, not allowing a single shot on goal.
