Today Celebrates: Old Farmer’s Day, National Gumbo Day, and Moment of Frustration Day!

Lunch for today includes: Breaded Chicken Drumstick with Roll, Max Stix with Marinara Sauce, Whipped Potatoes, Green Peas, Fresh Fruit, Mixed Fruit, and Milk.

Homecoming 2023 is flying by! Have you been dressing up and showing up during this fun-filled week? Today is all about the Era you are currently in.

Remember to check in with your grade level table at lunch to earn points! We are also awarding the Best Dressed student from each spirit day with a prize bag worth 75 dollars! The best dressed students for Wednesday’s Rhyme with No Reason day are…. Goth Bride and Mister World Wide, Samara and Jay Trump! Calling all students! Tonight’s lip sync battle and talent show still has room for participants, and it wants you! We want you! And it’s not too late to join in the fun! If you can play an instrument, have an incredible talent, or are simply good at pumping up a crowd, grab a few friends and head down to the Black Box, B1020, and sign yourselves up! Want to show off your spirit at the Homecoming game this year? Participate in Lakelyn’s Legacy Homecoming 5K relay before the game and you will be showered with color to show off at the game. Can’t finish a 5K alone? No problem. This 5K is done relay style. So get together a team of 5 and meet at the SDMS bus loop for a 4:00 start before the game. The cost is only $50 per team and the proceeds will go to The Cure Starts Now in memory of Lakelyn Draheim. So come on out, support a great cause, and let your Homecoming colors burst.

Attention After School Academy participants: There will be NO Gaming Group or Spanish Help on Monday, October 16th and Tuesday, October 17th. We will make up the sessions another time.

Juniors and Seniors! There are several upcoming college visits this month. Be sure to check the list outside the Guidance Office frequently as the list is constantly being updated. Neumann University will be here at 9:30 TODAY. We also have Dickinson College and Stevenson University coming next week. Don’t miss out on these valuable opportunities.

Decatur, Mr. vonRigler is raising money for PBIS and hoping YOU can help! The goal is to reach 200 dollars by the end-of-the-day TODAY to have Mr. vonRigler dye all of his hair blue for the Friday Pep Rally! Donations will be collected during all lunch shifts. We have gathered 96 dollars so far, so we are half way there! Please see Mr.vonRigler with questions and check the hallways for fliers!

It’s time to vote for you Homecoming King and Queen! You have until 3:00 TODAY to cast your vote for this years senior Homecoming King and Homecoming Queen! Who will be crowned King at the Pep Rally, and who will wear the tiara as Queen at the Game?

This Friday Night! The Seahawks take on the Bulldogs under the Friday Night Lights! Come out to cheer on the team, celebrate with the cheerleaders, and crown the Homecoming Queen! Tickets will be on sale this Thursday and Friday during all lunch shifts, so buy your ticket early to bypass the line Friday night! Tickets are 5 dollars per person.

Homecoming week ends with the annual dance on Saturday from 6:30 until 10:00 pm. Entry into the dance is 10 dollars with payment being taken at the door. Live it up Vegas Style! Remember, in order to attend the dance you must be debt free, so make sure you settle any and all debts!

New this year! We want to make this year’s dance better than ever, so this week is “Request Week”. Scan the QR code found on the red flyers around school to submit a request for two songs! Remember, not all requested songs will play, and requests will be taken at the dance, but submit your requests now for a better assortment of songs! We want to hear from you!

It looks like confusion turned into clarity yesterday as everyone dressed as a rhyme with no reason! Loved seeing all that creativity Decatur Nation! Now here are the daily results for Wednesday:

Overall totals at day 3: 4th place: seniors… really seniors… we expect better! 3rd Place: juniors… shame, shame juniors… in 2nd Place: freshman, and in 1st Place: sophomores!!!

Be sure to check in with the cheerleaders each day you are dressed to get points for your grade! Underclassmen are showing out, last chance to get points are the dress day tomorrow and Smish Smosh tonight!

And remember, TOMORROW is the battle of classes with our Class Color Day!

Attention all girls interested in playing basketball this winter: please pick up an information packet outside of Mrs. Tracy’s room A-113. Important try out information and paperwork deadlines are included. Our next open gym is TODAY, October 12th from 6 until 7:30 p.m.

The varsity field hockey team traveled to St. Michaels high school yesterday and took home a 4-0 victory. Emily Ferguson had 2 goals, Bailey Griffin had one goal and one assist, Ryleigh Smith added the final goal. Ava Snelsire had one assist.
