Want to show off your spirit at the Homecoming game this year? Participate in Lakelyn’s Legacy Homecoming 5K relay before the game and you will be showered with color to show off at the game. Get together a team of 5 and meet at the SDMS bus loop for a 4:00 start before the game. The cost is only $50 per team and the proceeds will go to The Cure Starts Now in memory of Lakelyn Draheim. So come on out, support a great cause, and let your Homecoming colors burst.

Seniors! Don’t let Homecoming cloud your brain! Senior Portrait Retakes will be taking place next Monday through Wednesday, down the front hallway, Broadway. You MUST sign up for an appointment time. Check out the flyer posted in the main office for directions on how to sign up if you missed portraits this summer. If you want to have retakes done, call the number on the flyer to make an appointment. After next week, any senior who missed portraits will need to schedule an appointment at Lifetouch’s Salisbury Studio.

TONIGHT! The Seahawks take on the Bulldogs under the Friday Night Lights! Come out to cheer on the team, celebrate with the cheerleaders, and crown the Homecoming Queen! Tickets will be on sale TODAY during all lunch shifts, so buy your ticket early to bypass the line Friday night! Tickets are 5 dollars per person.

Don’t forget the dance on Saturday from 6:30 until 10:00 pm. Entry is 10 dollars with payment being taken at the door. Live it up Vegas Style! Remember, in order to attend the dance you must be debt free, so make sure you settle any and all debts! Please note that this year, entry into the dance will be through the Outdoor Cafe into the Cafeteria.

New this year! We want to make this year’s dance better than ever, so this week is “Request Week”. Scan the QR code found on the red flyers around school to submit a request for two songs! Remember, not all requested songs will play, and requests will be taken at the dance, but submit your requests now for a better assortment of songs! We want to hear from you!

Way to come back strong seniors! The overall week winner will be announced at the Pep Rally this afternoon!

For Sports:

Attention girl interested in playing basketball this winter, mark your calendars for two open gyms next week. Tuesday, October 17th from 6-7:30 pm and Friday, October 20th from 8-10:30am. All skill levels welcome to attend! We hope to see you there.

Congratulations to the girls and boys cross country teams who competed in the Bayside South Championship meet against the 9 Bayside South teams on Wednesday at City Park in Salisbury. The girls team remains undefeated in the Bayside Conference with a meet score of 25 points, just 10 points from a perfect score. The girls team was led by Amber Marshall placing second followed by Avery Weber in 4th and Evie Eggers in 9th. Way to go ladies!!!

The boys team took 1st in the meet with a low score of 24 points, just 9 points from a perfect score. The boys team was lead by Brayden Bell winning 1st place in a time of 17:17 making Brayden the fastest sophomore in Decatur history. Brayden broke the sophomore 3-mile record previously held by Mitchell Witherow in 2006. Outstanding performance Brayden!! Also scoring for the boys team just 3 seconds later was Trey Rill in 3rd, followed by Quinn Martin in 6th and Todd Haley in 7th. Great job guys!! Keep up the hard work!!

Congratulations to the golf team on winning their 3rd consecutive Bayside Championship with a team low 321 we were led by Sam Boger’s 77, Clayton McCabe’s 78 and Kole Kohut and Evan Oglesby 83, it’s now on to states.

Congratulations to the Decatur volleyball for their impressive win against Pocomoke last night. JV started the night with a 2 to 0 win. Kirby Bounds served an impressive 15 serves in a row in the second game and did a great job setting up her offense. Lily Nathan was the offensive player of the night with 5 kills.

Varsity was up next and swept Pocomoke 3 to 0. Setters Sydnie Harrington and Brooke Berquist led the team with 6 and 7 assists, respectively and one kill each. Sydnie dominated at the net with 2 blocks and Brooke’s coverage in the back row was some of the best of the night. Zoe Hinkle and Alice Bickel each had 7 kills and the newest member of Varsity, freshman Lila Gunther wowed the crowd with 4 kills. It was a great night for Decatur volleyball. Great job, ladies.
