Today Celebrates: National Mincemeat Day?

Attention After School Participants! This is a friendly reminder that there will be NO Art Club meeting after school TODAY. Additionally, all after school academy programs are canceled for next Tuesday, Halloween night.

Decatur Nation! Ready for some spirit days? Students Against Destructive Decisions is hosting three spirit days and invites you to dress up and participate! Tomorrow, make sure you wear red since we are red-y (ready) to say no to drugs. Halloween Tuesday celebrate the holiday and scare those drugs away. The on Wednesday, find a partner to celebrate tween day with a drug free twin! SADD spirit days TOMORROW, as well as next Tuesday and Wednesday!

Friendly reminder that picture day is coming! Save the Date! On Monday, October 30th, Lifetouch will be at school to take photos of all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. Even if you do not plan on ordering photos, you will still need to sit for a picture for the yearbook.

Attention Juniors and Seniors! You’ve asked for it and now it is here…. the SCIENCE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY. Stop by and see Ms. Kinsler in room D-154 if you are currently enrolled in an AP science course for this year or have already completed an AP science course and are interested in getting an informational letter about joining the Science National Honor Society. Applications are to be completed by Monday, November 30th at 3:00 pm in order to be considered as a member for the 2023-2024 school year. If you already applied at the end of last school year there is no need to reapply.

The Key Club will be holding its first blood drive event on Friday, November 10th from 8:00 until 1:30. Students aged 16 and older are allowed to donate this year. If you are 16, you will need a signed parent permission slip. Please see Mrs. Saullo or Mrs. Kalchthaler for a permission slip. Signs with QR codes are located around the building to register.

Juniors and Seniors! Loyola University of Maryland will be here in the guidance office at 8:10 this morning, and St. Mary’s College of Maryland will be in at 10:00. Tomorrow, Gettysburg College visits at 10:00 a.m. Check that list outside the guidance office and remember, we have SEVEN college visits next week.

Any student planning on taking an AP Exam independently of a course taught here or at Worcester Tech needs to see Mrs. Wells in the Curriculum Office before November 1st.

Welcome Foolish Mortals! In less that 12 hours, the halls of Decatur will come alive with the haunts of Halloween during the second annual One School, One Community Indoor Trunk or Treat. Are you daring enough to venture through the Paris Catacombs and Twisted Candyland? Try not to turn to stone as you descend into Medusa’s Cave! While this event is geared towards younger kids, we invite you to come check out the 20 booths set up and vote for the most “Boo-tiful” site. Join us for our Indoor Trunk or Treat, we need help with set up, decorating, and clean-up! See Mr. Thompson with questions or to volunteer.

For Sports:

If you’re interested in trying out for the Boys Basketball team, please pick up your packet from Coach Johnson in room C-164. All paper work is due before or by November 13th.

Any girl interested in trying out for the Basketball team this year, must pick up an information packet outside Coach Tracy’s room, A113, sign up on Family ID, and turn in a physical to coach by November 9th.

Any boy or girl interested in coming out for the Wrestling Team must complete the QR code outside Coach August’s room, B1072A fill out Family ID, and turn in a copy of your physical by November 13th.
