Today Celebrates: Caregiver Appreciation Day, Sadie Hawkins Day, and World Kindness Day!

Lunch for today includes: Chicken Fajitas, Mini Cheese Calzones, Steamed Turnip Greens, Steamed Brussel Sprouts, Fresh Fruit, Applesauce, and Milk.

Decatur Nation! This week is American Education Week! The Future Educators of America club would love to encourage SDHS students to give our teachers some love! Fill out the link on Schoology to complete a Shout out to a teacher who has made a difference for you. Your responses will be read anonymously on the morning announcements all next week.

Attention all those students who are participating in the field trip to New York City to see the Broadway production of Hadestown on Wednesday, November 15th. Remember, you must arrive at school by 6:45 a.m. at the bus loop. The bus will depart at 7:00 and will return at 10:00 p.m. Students are to bring money for purchasing both lunch and dinner or pack. Any questions, please see either Mrs. Moore or Mrs. Tignor.

Give a can man! Decatur’s annual canned food drive is taking place all next week! As always, this is a first period competition, meaning that breakfast will be awarded to the three classes that bring in the most food per pound! Help those in need this holiday season and bring in those cans all next week!

Anyone interested in joining the Students Against Destructive Decisions, the next meeting has been moved to this Wednesday, November 15th in Señora Cassino’s room, A126. Anyone interested in joining is welcome to attend!

It’s that time of year again when YOU can nominate your favorite teacher for Teacher of the Year. Who will be named Decatur’s Teacher of the Year for the 2023-24 school year? Visit our schools website, sdhs.worcesterk12.org to nominate! Nominations are now open and will remain open until December 1st.

Tis the season to show some gratitude! (Roll Leo Club Card video 0:11:10) Buy your cards this week during all lunch shifts!

Attention sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Are you interested in a career in plumbing? Want to learn a trade, and get paid? If so, attend the interest meeting with Seaside Plumbing on Thursday, November 16th, at 10:00 am in the cafeteria.

For Sports:

If you are interested in joining the Winter Cheer team, please come to Coach Johnson’s room to collect important information for this upcoming tryout. Make sure you sign up on FamilyID, the QR code is located at Coach Johnson’s room, C129, and make sure you have your completed physical. Tryouts start on November 15th and run until the 17th. We are excited for another great season!

There will be an open gym for basketball TONIGHT. The open gym will start at 5:30 and will run until 7:00 pm. You must leave the school and return 10 minutes before Open Gym. All are welcome and the fee is $2.00.

If you’re interested in trying out for the Boys Basketball team, please pick up your packet from Coach Johnson in room C-164. All paper work is due by end of the day TODAY. You must have a current physical and signed up on family Id to tryout.

Mrs. Malone thank you for always keeping me inspired to do my very best. You really make me love English class.

Mr. Greenwood, I’d like to thank you for all the things you do above and beyond from making class fun to dressing up on spirit days. You are my favorite teacher!

Thank you Mr. Shane for holding me accountable for my work and helping me realize that taking the easy way out is not the way to go. You are a great teacher.

I would like to shout out Mrs. Ferro for being a great teacher. You make class fun and help me tremendously.

Big shout out to Mr. Thompson for being the BEST. Thank you for inspiring me each and every day. You do so much both inside and outside of the classroom all the time and it is noticed and appreciated.

Mrs. Putman is the best teacher I have ever had. Thank you so much. I love your class and you bring a smile to my face every day. I have learned so much from you.

Mrs. Purnell you are the best. I loved your class every day. You make learning fun and all of the creative ways you taught us kept us really engaged and excited about learning.

Mr. Krantz you are my favorite teacher. Thank you for your sense of humor and positive attitude.
