The Maryland Coastal Bays is a nonprofit organization that receives funding from the Environmental Protection Agency, (EPA) in order to do restoration and protection of the Maryland Coastal Bays watershed. The foundation has many opportunities, including education, volunteer work, and different outreach programs.
One of the programs offered to certain students who are interested in science is a sleep-away retreat. Each year they focus on a different aspect centered around environmental sciences. Participants focus on the watershed and partake in activities such as population monitoring and sound graphing. There is also a focus on observation skills and making the next great scientists.
The Maryland Coastal Bays program also offers a scholarship for students to attend a college or trade school of their choosing, as long as they choose an environmental related field of study. If you have any questions, please contact them at [email protected] or 410-231-2297.
